Surreality TV

While this isn't directly related to my training/fundraising, I had this experience/thought while I was working out, so it's sort of relevant. Anyway, I'm on the elliptical machine in my gym and there are three television sets in front of me. The one on the right told the heartwarming tale of the humpback whale and her calf that finally made it back to the ocean. The one on the left showed some MTV dating nonsense. It was the television in the middle that displayed the most disturbing images: Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie giving enemas!!! "The simple life goes to camp" is the latest creative project by this dazzling duo. The camp appears to be designed for those who need to lose large amounts of weight and who better than to help them on their way than Paris Hilton and her stick figure colleague Nicole Richie? It was so awful, I mean SOOO awful and I had a very difficult time overting my eyes as every time I looked up there they were. This has to be fake, right? RIGHT? So wrong on so many levels. I'm truly scarred.

It's hot and my legs hurt

Well, I've just finished my training pre-week. I'm being reminded of muscles that I had neglected for awhile. It's all good, though. AND, I've raised $1025!!! So great, but still a long way to go. Same with my training and I hear, that it actually gets warmer as the summer progresses. Oh, well. Pain is my friend; that which doesn't destroy me makes me stronger.

So, on Monday, I officially start training for the Nike Women's half marathon with the leukemia and lymphoma society team in training. I'm simultaneously excited and daunted.
